He must have been working too hard. With all of the things he had to do to maintain the place, it was very easy to tune everything and everyone out. Especially when he was trying to dust the cobwebs out of the ceiling corners.

In his surprise, the castle master almost smacked Axel in the head with his face, reeling back so that he didn't actually do that. Fortunately for him, his meeting with the floor was better than what it could have been if he was standing on a chair, the broom practically thrown in another direction altogether as he fell into a confused heap.
Gathering his wits about him and finding his voice were the next two steps after giving his brain a chance to reboot, his mouth gaping like a fish out of water. "A-A-Axel?? Is that– wh-what– ???"
